How do different cultures use piercings to make themselves more beautiful?

The women of the Mursi tribe get their lips cut at the age of 15-16. As the girl gets older, larger plates are put in, to stretch-out the lip. The bigger the plate is, the more the girl is worth to be married to. Plates as large as 12 centimeters and more are put in a few years after getting the original cut.
